a bit about me

A bit about me. I'm 57 years old, married to Troy, and together we have five wonderful children and seven adorable grandchildren. I was born on Long Island, NY, grew up in Northern California, and spent the second half of my life living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where we raised our family.  Troy and I are now living in Berlin, Germany for a few years. My family and my faith are everything to me.

Why wellness? Well, my own health journey has been a rocky one, beginning with the removal of one of my kidneys at age 18 months. My youth was by and large without issue, but I began using food as a comfort after stopping sucking my thumb at age 10. Although I was quite active, my reliance on food for soothing continued, and as I reached adulthood, my weight began to creep upward. I have spent much of my adult life focused on the needs of my family and have made my own wellness a low priority. I am now at a stage of life in which I am prioritizing my own wellness, in order to have a great quality of life for my remaining many years.
